I teach baking/cooking in Honolulu, Hawaii. Initially it was just a baking class, but has expanded to cooking also. A lot of people have come by and learned baking, but the class now has usuable menus for everyday cooking. I started the class on the simple wish to teach people about baking, but I ended up getting more than my wish. I've met a lot of people through this endeavor who have become my friends.
So, I've thought this: Have you not had as many chances to make friends since adulthood? And has your new friendships been awkward and shaky at best? Have you just moved to Hawaii and been feeling uncertain? Kids have started going to school and have extra time? Been looking at that strange fruit/vegetable at the supermarket wondering "How do you eat that?" Having trouble coming up with a good daily menu for your family? Interested in everyday Japanese food? Trouble finding the perfect cake when you could be making it?
Do you want to broaden your network through baking and cooking? This is an opportunity to positively affect your family's diet, not just your own.
